Poconos, PA – Fall 2023
Our job for the Summer was at the Honesdale Poconos KOA Holiday which was our first KOA/corporate franchise campground job. We really enjoyed the importance of the customer’s experience and the focus on families making nice memories on vacation. This particular KOA is owned and operated by the Cartmell family and we really enjoyed working with them. We were one of three couples workcamping at the KOA and I conducted most of the activities over the summer.
The Historic Downtown area of Honesdale was filled with art and museums. We walked around often and got coffee or ice cream while we played Pokemon Go.
On Jake’s birthday we went to dinner at Gravity Inn and then went to the drive-in theater for a special midnight showing of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ with a shadow cast reenacting the whole movie right in front of the screen. They sold bags with props to throw or use when the queues came up in the movie and it was a lot of fun to participate in the tradition of midnight shows.
For my birthday, we went to TGIFridays because I wanted a Jack Daniels Burger and a fruity drink. Then we went to the bowling alley for glow in the dark mini golf and galaxy bowling!
