New Jersey – Summer 2021

New Jersey – Summer 2021

During the Summer, Jake worked at the Walking Bird Farm fulfilling a dream of growing and harvesting food for the community. Elle bought a season pass to Six Flag Great Adventure and popped into the park throughout the Summer for some exercise and people-watching.

We made a day trip to Cape May to visit the beach and see the horseshoe crab migration and to go to the Cape May Zoo, which is totally free to the public. At the beach, we saw hundreds of horseshoe crab mating in the low tide. Some of the more unfortunate crabs tired themselves from walking through the sand, others got picked off by the seagulls.

At the zoo, we were happy to see how clean and well kept everything was for being a free zoo. There were a ton of happy animals being kept in large enclosures, a aviary, a reptile house, a safari drive, and more.

In July we celebrated Jake’s birthday with a barbecue at the house. We made tie-dye shirts and played giant Jenga and had good food and a bonfire.

We visited the Wheaton Glass Studio and got to see a variety of artists demonstrate their craft, including pottery, glass blowing, glass miniatures, and more. There was also a beautiful garden around the property.
