Rockport, Maine – Month 5
09/01-09/30/2022: It’s all about the food this month. We had our weekly team potlucks, except we celebrated a few birthdays and 2 weddings, so we had reason to go all out with our contributions.
We hosted and catered a seaside wedding at the campground waterfront. Jake, Alex, Charleen, and I worked together to coordinate, decorate, cook, cater, serve, and clean up this small wedding on the cliffside.
The following Team Time was a day out on the boats. They picked the perfect day. The ocean was glassy and the weather was warm and breezy. Jake had the honor of driving one of the two boats with half of the camp host team aboard.
We explored Booth Bay Harbor with Charleen and Alex and their friends who were visiting them at the time.
We visited Red’s Eats in Booth Bay, which is famous and has been featured on Food Network as a must-have if you’re visiting Maine. Every time we’ve driven in and out of Maine, we’ve driven past Red’s and there is always a long line going at least a block down. We knew we’d have to wait, but we drove down to Red’s to try their world famous burgers.
We waited in line for about 45 minutes before ordering. We got burgers, hot dogs, fries, and everything else they offered so that we could try it all. We ate on location in the picnic area by the water.
During our time in Maine, Alex had been working as a bartender at a nearby restaurant. We decided to visit him and have a few drinks one night and we had a great time letting him make bespoke drinks for us based on what he knows about what we each like.
Here are some random photos from hikes we took, projects we did, and things we saw. We visited Owl’s Head Light again for a short hike. I painted some stones for the campground to keep in the front office. We set up a small lobster bake for an outdoor wedding with about 25 people in attendance.
