Living in Maine : Weeks 8 & 9
This week we revisited Rockland with Rom and Emily. We had a Thanksgiving potluck with the camp host team and had a rock painting party. We had a final dinner with the whole crew at Archer’s on the Pier.
September 29th:
Back to Rockland, Owls Head (Rom and Emily)
We took a trip to Owl’s Head State Park and the lighthouse was open this time! Jake went up to the top of the 30′ lighthouse while we waited outside. We went down to the beach and had lunch together. Then we went to Bixby’s chocolate factory and got some gelato. We strolled down Main Street and visited the Puffin Project center. Then we enjoyed some drinks at Park Grill and Bar.
September 30th:
Emily gifted Jake a wire jewelry book so we sorted our sea glass into colors and decided which pieces he would use for his projects. I found the biggest piece at Warren Island State Park.
October 1st:
We had a Thanksgiving themed Team Time Tuesday and enjoyed a Smoked Turkey and a Roasted Turkey. Everyone contributed side dishes and we enjoyed each other’s company. We followed dinner with a Rock Painting Party sp that everyone could leave their mark at the park.
Here are some of the stones I painted.
October 10th:
Team Dinner at Archer’s on the Pier
We got together one last time before some of the team moved on to their next destination. We recycled all year and saved up the funds for an extravagant dinner at Archer’s on the Pier. Jake had ‘Cioppino Archer’s’ which had Maine Lobster, Shrimp, Diver Scallops, Haddock, Crab & Mussels with Wine & Marinara over Linguine. I had Baked Stuffed Haddock with Crab Stuffing and Lobster Newburg Sauce. We were the loudest group in the restaurant and were there for over an hour passed closing time. For some reason, a “who let the dogs out” chant erupted while we were taking our group photo. We were gifted with engraved pocket knives at the end of the night and parted ways happy and full of good food.
